Collaboration: multidisciplinary performance
WHEN ARTISTS FROM WIDELY DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES WORK TOGETHER, THEY CAN CREATE SOMETHING ENTIRELY NEW—A TIME-BASED ART EVENT, WHERE THE WHOLE IS DEFINITELY GREATER THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS.
I
‘ve had the good fortune to be able to work with artists on projects involving dance, music, film, and of course visual art. In every case, the energy is heightened just by being in the presence of others who express their creative ideas in diverse and unexpected ways. I’m sharing here two examples, Into the Fold, a collaboration with Rumpus Room Dance, and Exhibit A: Evidence of an Art Occurrence, a performance in collaboration with Vancouver School of Arts and Academics.
